Bengal tigers (Panthera tigris) are the second largest tiger species in the world. The white variation (in this painting) is not a separate species or a true albino, but a mutated variation of the orange Bengal tiger. Due to these mutations, they have a shorter life span than the orange tigers.

The word lemur (Lemuroidea) is Latin and translates to 'spirit of the night', and some species are routinely trapped and killed in cultures where they are believed to be linked to evil and represent a bad omen.

A stag is a male Red Deer (Cervus elaphus). Their antlers are shed every year, and are covered in a thick covering called velvet which is rich in blood vessels.

Giant anteaters (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) have no teeth, and tongues up to 2 feet long. They have low body temperature for mammals (33 C), and sleep up to 15 hours a day.

Turkey vultures (Cathartes aura) have stomach acid comparable to battery acid, which allows them to eat putrefying meat, although they do prefer their meat fresh - not rotten.
